FONTARTE are designers Artur Frankowski and Magdalena Frankowska. The studio was launched in 2004 and is based in Warsaw. Their work connects graphic design and typography with art and is concerned with their educational backgrounds. Magdalena has M.A. in art history from the Warsaw University, whilst Artur received Ph.D. on legibility of type from the Warsaw University of Technology.
FONTARTE works on a range of projects including editorial design, custom typography and exhibition design for arts and culture clients. Fontarte is particulary interested in activities connecting art and design. Projects to date include various book and poster designs and creation of "designs from the future" curated by Sebastian Cichocki (MoMA Warsaw).
FONTARTE also contribute writing to various journals, give lectures, curate events on international graphic and book design and teach at institutions like Academy of Fine Arts and Warsaw University of Technology. Magdalena and Artur are the authors of "Henryk Berlewi" book about a precursor of modern typography and graphic design which was published last year.
